Speaking to The Telegraph, UK Foreign Secretary Liz Truss indicated that “talks are underway to ensure Moldova’s defense can deter any attack in the future” and explained: “I would like Moldova to be equipped according to NATO standards.” This is a discussion that we have with our allies.

Moldova, bordering Ukraine to the southwest, is not a member of NATO.

“Russian President Vladimir Putin has been very clear about his ambition to create a Greater Russia. The fact that his attempts to capture Kyiv were unsuccessful does not mean that he abandoned these ambitions, ”notes The Terrace.

If the TRACE plans are accepted, NATO members will provide Moldova with modern weapons to replace Soviet-era equipment and train soldiers on how to use them.

Russia describes the invasion, which it launched on February 24, as a “special military operation” aimed at disarming Ukraine and ridding it of anti-Moscow ultranationalists. Ukraine and its allies dismissed this as an unfounded pretext for war.
