Just ten days after 10 people were killed in a Buffalo supermarket, an 18-year-old was once again the protagonist of a mass shooting in the United States. This Tuesday, at least 18 children died, between the ages of 5 and 11, and two adults (including a teacher), with a few dozen injured to register.

The nonprofit Gun Violence Archive, which tracks shootings in the United States, already counts more than 200 shootings this year in which at least four or more people were injured or killed.

In 2021, the organization recorded 693 shootings, almost two shootings a dayof which 28 made at least four deaths.

Before Tuesday’s shooting at Uvalde Elementary School in Texas, nine more mass shootings had been reported since the beginning of the year.

Police were called to a home in Milwaukee where they found six people shot to death. Authorities found evidence during the investigation that the five men and the woman were identified targets, although the intent behind the executions is unknown.

March, 19. Dumas, Arkansas: One dead, 27 injured

Two men were involved in an exchange of fire during an auto show in Dumas, leaving one dead and 27 wounded, including six children.

April 3 Sacramento, California: Six dead, 12 injured

Outside a nightlife area in Sacramento, the shooting killed six people and wounded 12 others. A few days later, local police confirmed that it was an episode of “gang violence” and that there were at least five armed men.

April 12 Brooklyn, New York: 29 injured

A shooting at the Brooklyn subway station left at least 29 injured and 10 were shot by the attacker. The suspect, Frank R. James, was arrested the day after the alleged terror attack on public transportation. He can be sentenced to life in prison.

April 27. Biloxi, Mississippi: Four Dead

The owner, two hotel employees and a fourth person were shot to death in Biloxi, Mississippi. The fourth person died during a carjacking following the murder of hotel staff. The shooter, 32-year-old Jeremy Alesunder Reynolds, was found dead a few hours later.

On the same day, May 15, there were two shootings. The first in Houston, at an outdoor fair, five men were involved in clashes, two were killed and five seriously injured.

Hours later, in Laguna Woods, California, a gunman killed one person and left four more seriously injured at the Irvine Taiwan Presbyterian Church. The man was overpowered and tied up by the people who were at the scene, which will have prevented the number of dead and injured from being even higher.
