Hezbollah claims attacks in northern Israel

The naval base near Haifa and suburban areas of Tel Aviv were targets of the Shiite movement. The IDF says it is not yet aware of any injuries or deaths as a result of the offensive.

The Lebanese Shiite movement Hezbollah claimed to have fired rockets this Tuesday at a “naval base” near Haifa, in northern Israel. At the same time, it claimed similar attacks against two positions “on the outskirts of Tel Aviv.”

One “rocket salvo” The target was the “Stella Maris naval base northwest of Haifa,” the Lebanese movement said in a statement, which also claimed similar attacks on two positions “in the suburbs of Tel Aviv.”

For its part, the Israeli military said that several air raid sirens sounded in different parts of central and northern Israel, including Tel Aviv, after several projectiles were fired from Lebanon.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said in a statement that around five projectiles were fired towards central Israel, most of which were intercepted by Israeli defences.

Following the attacks, the Israeli army declared a state of emergency in Tel Aviv and throughout the territory. Air traffic at Ben Gurion Airport was interrupted, Israeli media reported.

Sirens also sounded this morning (local time) in the Upper Galilee and north of the Golan Heights in northern Israel after around 15 rockets were fired from the neighboring country.

“To date, the IDF is not aware of any injuries as a result of the attack.”says the same statement.

Earlier, anti-aircraft sirens were activated in the Samaria and Modi’in Illit region in central Israel after another projectile was fired from Lebanon and hit “open terrain,” the IDF said.

The measures were taken hours after the Israeli army bombed the southern suburbs of Beirut, killing at least four people, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.

More than 2,400 people have been killed in Lebanon and 11,600 have been injured in Israeli attacks since October 8, 2023, when clashes between the Israeli army and Hezbollah began as part of the war in the Gaza Strip.
