The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba, commenting on the signing by Russian President Vladimir Putin of a decree on simplifying the acquisition of Russian citizenship by residents of the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions of Ukraine, stressed that “if the Russian side wanted good-faith negotiations, it would not have acted in this way.”

He explained during a press conference held at the World Economic Forum (WEF), known as the Davos Summit, that “Turkey was the most successful among the countries that offered mediation between his country and Russia, and the meeting of the Russian and Ukrainian delegations in the negotiations in Istanbul was the culminating point of the negotiation process.

Kuleba pointed out that “negotiations broke down after the meeting in Istanbul”, adding that he “does not even remember the last time the working group met for negotiations.”

The Foreign Minister pointed out that “all wars have ended with the help of diplomacy, but Russia continues its attacks with its tanks, artillery and aircraft.”
