Hollywood mogul Jeffrey Katzenberg invests in ads to support Rep. Karen Bass (D-CA), the leading Democratic candidate for mayor of Los Angeles, opposes the mutiny of businessman Rick Caruso.
Katzenberg is known for her relationships with Disney and Dreamworks, as well as her support for Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
Caruso, who has spent $30 million on advertising so far and takes pride in his career in real estate development to convince voters he can solve homelessness, spoke to Bass in polls last month and is now head-to-head with him. .
It also received praise from seemingly unexpected sources, such as rapper Snoop Dogg, who called Caruso “real”. Caruso is best known for his career in building celebrity shopping malls and donating money to charities.
However, Katzenberg, a major national donor to the Democratic Party, supports Bass, the former chair of the Congressional Black Caucus, who has toured the party’s traditional ethnic groups and coalition interests.
Los Angeles times Katzenberg has mentioned funding television commercials calling Caruso a “Republican” – he became independent in 2011 and became a Democrat earlier this year – and describes a conservative attempting to isolate voters:
The two had known each other for years, but this animosity between Caruso and Katzenberg has only begun to intensify in the last weeks, when the pro-Bass committee first bought the TV ad. The ad begins with a reference to “Republican Rick Caruso” and then criticizes the candidate’s affiliation with the Republican Party and his abortion record and compares him to former President Trump.

Caruso’s lawyers also said he was wrong about the advertising agent’s position on abortion. Caruso, Roe v. Wade and she’s helping the campaign hide abortion rights in the California Constitution.
However, an article about Caruso in Los Angeles Magazine in 2007 had earlier noted that Caruso said he was “against abortion in most cases, but would support some stem cell research.”
Katzenberg also compared Caruso to Donald Trump, who was considered toxic in Los Angeles. Ironically, Caruso banned Trump from Grove Mall in Beverly Hills, only to lift the ban when Trump won the 2016 presidential election.
The election will be held on June 7 and ballot papers have been sent to the voters. Polls have yet to point to a possible winner.
