This Tuesday, May 24, Guadalupe Lieja had, in the midst of the greatest of misfortunes, the luck that other parents did not have. Her son was one of the survivors of the massacre in Texas, escaping from the attack of Salvador Ramos, an 18-year-old who killed 19 children and two teachers at a school in the Texas city of Uvalde.
The victims of the Uvalde shooter were all in the same room. Police smashed windows to evacuate students
One day after the attack —this Wednesday the 25th— Guadalupe Lieja was interviewed by a journalist precisely in Uvalde. And she shared an emotional testimony, broadcast by the North American station NBC.
With few words, and visibly hesitant, the father of one of the surviving children began by saying: “On Monday I saw one of the children… my son plays baseball, they were playing against each other. He had just seen him play…” Now clearly moved, he continued: “I don’t know what to say”.
Guadalupe Lieja, however, managed to find some words of advice: “We usually say: hug your children every day, every morning, when they go to school or when they return from school. We always say that… Do this every day. Whenever they get the chance.” You can see the statements here:

Tuesday’s shooting revived debate over the circulation of firearms in the United States of America, following a massacre at an elementary school.
Meanwhile, some details about the Salvador Ramos attack were revealed. The governor of the state of Texas, Greg Abbott, revealed, for example, that the young man had revealed his plans in three different publications on the social network Facebook.
The shooter told almost in real time on Facebook that he was going to “kill his grandmother” and that he was going to “make a massacre in an elementary school”
Before killing 21 people at an elementary school in Uvalde, Salvador Ramos had shot his grandmother, who survived (although she was injured). The shooter was eventually killed by police, after an exchange of gunfire.
