The Axios website reported that “Israeli national security adviser Eyal Holata will visit Washington next week to hold talks with his colleague Jake Sullivan on Saudi Arabia, President Biden’s upcoming visit to Israel and nuclear talks.” Holata is “Israel’s point of contact where the White House discreetly mediates between Israel, Saudi Arabia and Egypt regarding the completion of arrangements to secure two strategic islands in the Red Sea”, noting that “Tel Aviv and Washington hope that if an agreement is reached . An agreement that could build confidence and momentum and lead to separate steps to normalize Saudi Arabia’s relations with Israel.”

In this regard, Israeli officials told the site: “Holata will travel to Washington with a delegation of national security, foreign policy and intelligence officials who will conduct another round of talks at the US-Israeli strategic forum on Iran.” They reported that Holata and his team want to continue discussing a potential “Plan B” for a scenario in which the United States does not return to the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran in the near future, and they also want the United States and its European allies to push for issuing a resolution of reprimand at a meeting next to the IAEA Board of Governors in June.

Holata and Sullivan are also expected to discuss Biden’s upcoming visit to the Middle East (including Israel).
