Effects of the war: three quarters of the Portuguese admit a drop in purchasing power

The Portuguese are already feeling the effects of the war in Ukraine, through rising fuel or food prices, for example, and 75% of people living in Portugal say that their purchasing power has decreased by the last months. 82% admit to feeling the effects of the invasion and the majority believe that the war will last more than a year.

According to an Aximage survey, conducted for TSF, JN and DN, 16% of respondents admitted that they stopped buying some products and goods.

Inflation already eats away at purchasing power. The Portuguese shopping basket is the smallest in the last four years

A similar survey was conducted in March and, in less than three months, there are significant differences to point out: in the month the war began, 41% of the Portuguese said that did not feel the effects of the invasion of Ukraine and now that percentage has dropped to 18%.

As for NATO, more than half of the Portuguese (56%) say they are satisfied with the work of the Atlantic Alliance and the majority support the decision not to intervene directly in the war. Y 20% defend that Portugal should not send soldiers to Ukraine
