To prevent “monkey pox” … here are some tips

Amid rising numbers of new monkeypox virus that has caused panic in the United States, Europe, Australia and the Middle East, doctors have mobilized to find the cause.

“Anyone who comes in close contact with an infected person is at risk,” the health doctors agreed.

“The risks to the general public are small, but there are many precautions that can be taken to reduce the risk of infection,” they said.

According to CNBC, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention also issued useful recommendations, which were approved by the British National Health Service and the World Health Organization.

These include avoiding contact with people who have recently had the disease or people who may be infected, as well as avoiding wearing a mask if you are in close contact with someone who has symptoms.

Also avoid contact with animals that can carry the virus, including the sick or dead, especially those with a history of infection, such as monkeys, rodents, and stray dogs, while sterilizing the hands well.

It is also important to use personal protective equipment and eat only well-cooked meat when caring for patients with confirmed or suspected infections.

New data suggests that monkey pox may be transmitted through surfaces and materials, so contact with materials that have come into contact with sick humans or animals should be avoided.

According to doctors, the virus can survive on things like blankets and other items, so it is essential to wash clothes and sheets regularly at high temperatures.

In case of infection, the recommendations stressed the need to isolate the person and ask the doctor until the virus is gone, and the disease is usually mild and most people recover within two weeks to a month.

It is worth noting that the World Health Organization in a reassuring statement, emphasizing the need for large-scale vaccination campaigns against smallpox, has increased the number of cases in 20 countries to about 200.

“In countries where the disease is not endemic, the priority should be to control monkey pox, and this can be achieved with swift action,” a senior UN official said on Friday.

This type of smallpox appeared about two weeks ago, but the registration of infections in countries outside its place of origin attracted global health attention.
