Putin says Ukraine ‘sabotaged’ talks, but reveals prisoner swap could happen

Russian President Vladimir Putin revealed to German Chancellor Karl Nehammer on Friday that he was available to exchange prisoners despite attacking Ukraine’s position.

In the conversation with the Austrian leader, Karl Nehammer, who mainly focused on the discussion of possible humanitarian solutions to the conflict, Putin accused Ukraine of “sabotage” the negotiations between the two countries and also said that the West’s accusations about Moscow’s responsibility in the food crisis are “unfounded”.

Vladimir Putin stressed that attempts to blame Russia for difficulties in delivering agricultural products to the global market are unfounded,” the Kremlin said, according to AFP.

In the conversation with Karl Nehammer, the Russian leader also argued that Ukraine should remove sea mines near Ukrainian ports to allow the safe passage of ships.

The Russian leader assured Karl Nehammer that Russia will respect the agreements already established regarding the delivery of gas and further added that Moscow is prepared to discuss a prisoner exchange with Ukraine, he tells Sky News.
