Thousands of people gathered today in front of the Moldovan parliament, calling for the resignation of the government of Natalia Gavrilica, formed by the ruling Labor and Solidarity Party. This popular demonstration was organized by the opposition Socialist Party after the arrest of its former leader, former Moldovan President Igor Dodon. The demonstrators carried banners reading “We want law”, “We want real justice” and “Down with the government!”

Earlier, former Moldovan President Igor Dodon, who was arrested on charges of corruption and treason, confirmed that the criminal case against him is a pretext for political revenge by President Maia Sandu. “As for the accusations against me – they are all superficial, false and lack serious evidence and will be rejected by any independent, politically unconstrained court … I consider this process, including this accusation, as a far-fetched pretext for initiating political retribution from side Ms. Maya Sandhu, who wants to remove her main political opponent at any cost.
