“Israel is engaging with the United States and Gulf states in the process of normalizing relations with Saudi Arabia,” Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid said on Monday.
In an interview with Army Radio, Yair Lapid referred to the normalization agreements supported by the USA, saying, “We think the normalization process can be experienced in Saudi Arabia. We have already said that this is the next step after the Abrahamic covenant. It is a long and painstaking process. ” Israel reaches 2020 United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Morocco.
“We are working with the US and Gulf countries on this issue,” Lapid said, as there are no official diplomatic relations between Israel and Saudi Arabia.
Lapid warned that “the normalization process in Saudi Arabia will take a long time and progress will be made in small steps” and stressed that “the security interests of both countries are at stake”.
Referring to the suddenness and speed of the announcement of the 2020 normalization agreements, Lapid said, “This will not be like last time,” adding: “We will not wake up suddenly one morning and be a surprise.”
And he added, “One of the three foreign ministers after me will stand and celebrate, that’s good… that’s how you run a country.”
The Hebrew newspaper “Israel Hayom” said that “a group of Israeli officials have visited Saudi Arabia over the past ten years”.
He also claimed that dozens of Israeli businessmen and technology pioneers had entered Saudi Arabia for further discussions about Saudi investments and investment funds in Israeli companies.
The English version of the “Times of Israel” website is based on a report by the Hebrew economic newspaper Globes.
Businessmen entered Saudi Arabia with Israeli passports containing special visas, according to two websites, according to a Globes report released on Thursday.
