The unemployment rate fell in April to 6.8% in the eurozone and 6.2% in the European Union (EU) compared to the same month in 2021, but remained stable compared to March, according to Eurostat data.
According to the bulletin released this Wednesday by the Community Statistics Office, in the euro zone, unemployment fell from 8.2% in April 2021 and in the EU it fell from 7.5% a year earlier.
Among the Member States, Spain had the highest unemployment rate (13.3%) in April, followed by Greece (12.7%) and Italy (8.4%), while the Czech Republic (2.4% ), Germany (3.0%) and Malta (3.1%) recorded the lowest.
In Portugal, the unemployment rate stood at 5.8%, stable compared to March, but below the 6.7% of the same month of the previous year.

In April there were 14,264 million unemployed in the EU, 11,181 million of them in the euro zone.
