International and international powers led by the United States, the European Union and the United Nations are working hard to extend the UN ceasefire in Yemen, which expires on Thursday.
Sources are likely to announce the extension of the ceasefire, despite problems with the opening of Taiz roads, around which the Houthis are incompatible and are carrying out political extortion.
The sources say that the arrival of US envoy Timothy Lindering and the new US ambassador to Aden and their meeting with Yemeni leaders, in addition to the EU ambassadors to Aden, is part of the effort. The extension of the ceasefire is successful.
Meanwhile, the UN envoy to Yemen is in Muscat to meet with the Houthi delegation to persuade it to extend the ceasefire and open the ports of Taiz.
Yemeni Prime Minister Moin Abdul Malik, for his part, warned that the siege of Taiz by Houthis and their refusal to implement the UN ceasefire provisions would lead to a catastrophic situation.
Abdul Malik made the remarks during a meeting with the new US ambassador to Yemen, Stephen Fagin, and the US envoy to Lander King, where Abdul Malik stressed that this would require international pressure on al-Houthi and his supporters.
