BERLIN (AP) — At least four people were killed and many more injured when a train derailed in the southern German Alps on Friday, officials said.
Police said a regional train to Munich derailed in the afternoon at Burgrain, near the resort town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen, from which it left.
Three double-decker cars tipped over slightly and people were pulled out of the windows for safety.
The reason is not immediately clear.
Police said on Twitter that four people were dead. According to them, the number of injured was around 30, 15 of whom were seriously injured and taken to hospitals.
It is not known how many people were on the train when the accident happened.
The line between Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Oberau, north of the crash site, was closed. The area is close to the Austrian border.
