Beijing: Sanctions will not solve the crisis in Ukraine

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Zhao Lijian said that the new sanctions against Russia have not eased the situation in Ukraine, and that Europe and the world in general have paid a heavy price.

Commenting on the sixth package of EU sanctions against Russia, Zhao Lijian said: “The facts prove that pressure with sanctions is not the right way to resolve the crisis in Ukraine. The extensive and indiscriminate sanctions imposed by some countries on Russia do not alleviate anything. Ukraine ‘Contrary to the situation in Europe and the world has paid a heavy price for it. “

In the same context, the spokesperson announced that the country’s population will face new challenges such as inflation and unemployment as the pressure of sanctions increases, and that the world will have to deal with serious problems such as the energy crisis and supply.

The European Union had earlier published the sixth package of sanctions against Russia in the Official Gazette. Among other things, it provides a gradual ban on oil imports from the Russian Federation. The ban will only affect deliveries by sea and the oil flowing in the Druzhba pipeline will not be subject to restrictions. The sixth package of European sanctions also allows the banks “Sberbank”, “Rosselkhoz Bank” and “Moscow Credit Bank” to leave Swift.
