The head of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, stressed that the political dialogue that will begin tomorrow between the Sudanese parties to resolve the political crisis in the country is a historic opportunity to complete the transition in Sudan.

He noted that “the dialogue starting tomorrow is a historic opportunity to complete the transition phase, and I call on the political forces to respond to the dialogue and ignore tribalism and regionalism for the sake of the country, and we will provide support and opportunities for the tripartite mechanism before the elections,” stressing that “we are determined to work on the implementation of the results of the dialogue.”

He continued, “Most political forces have responded to the dialogue through a tripartite mechanism, and we have committed ourselves to working with all political forces in the name of peace and justice,” noting that “we reaffirm our commitment to distancing the military establishment from politics.”

A few days ago, the tripartite mechanism of the UN, the African Union and the Intergovernmental Organization for Development in East Africa “IGAD” set tomorrow, Wednesday, the date to launch a direct dialogue between the Sudanese parties to find a solution to the political crisis, and it revolves around preparing the conditions for dialogue to put an end to the political crisis in the country, through constitutional mechanisms, establishing criteria for the election of the prime minister and ministers, and defining a roadmap for organizing free and fair elections.

The Sudanese Sovereignty Council, which governs the country’s affairs, reaffirmed its commitment to completing the transition and its support for the efforts of the tripartite mechanism to advance the process of dialogue between the Sudanese parties to resolve the current crisis, while the opposition coalition Forces for Freedom and Change in Sudan announced its boycott of the dialogue, stipulating the dialogue “after the cessation of violence and the release of the detainees.”
