The Turkish Coast Guard command announced the rescue of 54 illegal immigrants off the western and southern coasts of the country.

The Coast Guard Command said in a statement that “its teams received a report of the presence of illegal migrants off the coast of the Dikili region in Izmir” and indicated that “six migrants who were on the boat were rescued after the Greek side pushed them into Turkish territorial water”.

The statement stated that “rescue teams also received another distress call from a boat off the coast of Marmaris after the boat’s engine failed and 28 migrants were rescued on board.”

During the third operation, “Coast Guard teams rescued 4 migrants off the coast of the Bodrum region and 16 off the coast of Ortaha and Muğla State.”

The Coast Guard said: “The migrants have been handed over to the Migration Authority in the states of Izmir and Muğla.”

On the Turkish-Bulgarian-Turkish-Greek borders and on Turkish shores, there has been an increase in the number of illegal immigrants traveling by land or sea in the hope of entering a European country, and the Turkish police are using various methods to prevent infiltration attempts.
