A NASA rover has spotted what appears to be a piece of debris lying between two boulders on Mars.
The object was accidentally found while NASA’s Perseverance spacecraft was searching for signs of life on the Red Planet.
“The team found something unexpected,” NASA tweeted.
The agency questioned the reason for the piece entering a place about two kilometers from the crash site, which was probably due to wind.
During their journey to Mars, the spacecraft is exposed to extreme temperatures and gravitational forces, which cause them to penetrate the atmosphere at a speed of 20,000 kilometers per hour.
This equipment helps to reduce the impact of this spacecraft because it detaches from it before landing and suffers severe damage.
NASA plans to operate the Perseverance spacecraft until January 2023, when it will continuously send images and search for examples to study.
The Perseverence rover is designed to detect traces of ancient microorganisms that probably filled Mars three billion years ago.
Endurance in February 2021, after a seven-month space flight, landed on the surface of Mars in a dazzling success and embarked on a mission that will last several years in search of evidence of possible life on the Red Planet.
The giant ship landed at the mouth of the Jezero, which scientists believe housed a lake 3.5 billion years ago and is the most dangerous landing site to date due to its topography.
