US President Joe Biden announced that a decision to suspend the federal gasoline tax could be made this weekend.

Biden said in a press statement: “Yes, I’m looking into this option, I hope to make a decision based on the data I’m looking for by the end of the week,” noting that “he wants more answers to the question: Why aren’t energy companies refining more oil? ? Oil?

Halting the gasoline tax is one of several options the Biden administration is considering to curb inflation, which is now at a 40-year high, and gasoline prices, which continue to rise.

The President of the United States criticized his country’s major oil companies, urging them “not to use the difficulties resulting from the Russian war in Ukraine as an excuse to exacerbate the situation of families through windfall profits or higher prices.”

And U.S. Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said Sunday she was “evaluating a temporary tax suspension.”
