A taxi invaded a sidewalk in Manhattan, New York, running over several people and six were injured, three of them seriously, this Monday. Police are investigating the incident but believe it to be an accident.
According to the American press, the accident was caused by a cyclist, since the taxi driver intended to turn left on Broadway, he had priority, and a man on a bicycle crossed in front of the vehicle and collided. Police believe the driver ended up panicking and may have accelerated instead of braking.
With the acceleration, the taxi ended up climbing the sidewalk and pushed two women against the building, leaving them seriously injured. In total, six people were injured, three of them minor, although they were treated at the hospital. The taxi driver was also injured after the accident.
According to New York Police Deputy Chief John Chell, he said between 15 and 20 people tried to push the taxi to save the women who were run over.
