Indonesian President Joko Widodo, who arrived in Germany today to attend the three-day G7 summit to be held later today, said that “after my visit to Germany, I will go to Ukraine to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.” The goal is to invite the presidents of Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin, to open up space for peaceful dialogue.”

“The meeting with Zelensky aims to bring peace between Russia and Ukraine and restore global food supply chains,” Widodo said.

During his upcoming visit to Russia, he will also discuss with Vladimir Putin an early end to the war in Ukraine. It is planned that he will visit Ukraine on June 29, and Russia on June 30.

Indonesia currently chairs the G20 and will host the group’s next summit in Bali in November.

Today, the G7 meetings begin at the Elmau Palace resort in the southern German Alps, at a time when the Russian-Ukrainian war and the resulting economic crisis are on the agenda of the summit.

Panelists are discussing ways to contain global inflation and strengthen supply chains around the world as they seek to overcome the worsening inflationary crisis.

Participants are also expected to discuss imposing additional restrictions on Russia and reducing its financial income so that the sanctions do not lead to further price increases around the world.
