Report: Israel will ask Biden to give Saudi Arabia a laser air defense system to fight Iran

Israel will ask President Joe Biden to supply Israeli laser air defense systems to Arab countries that oppose Iran, Israeli television said on Monday.

The Iron Beam system, which uses lasers to prevent overheating and weather threats, will be deployed in the UAE as well as Saudi Arabia, Channel 12 reported.

The report corroborates previous claims by Biden administration officials that the president’s visit to the region will include discussions about “new innovations between our countries that use laser technology to combat missiles and other air threats.”

Wall Street Magazine On Sunday, it was reported by the United States that a secret summit was held in Sharm el-Sheikh earlier this year between Israel and several Arab countries, including but not limited to Qatar and Saudi Arabia, with which Israel has no official relationship. The aim of the summit is to create a regional alliance to combat the growing threat of missiles and drones from Iran.

This appears to have been confirmed by Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz.

“We are building our broad partnership with more countries in the region to ensure a safe, stable and prosperous Middle East. It includes, among other things, air defense,” Gantz said on Monday.

During Biden’s visit, he also discussed a potential breakthrough in our ability to take action against Iran’s aggression in the region.

The laser-powered Iron Beam system, which has been successfully tested to intercept missiles, drones, mortars and anti-tank missiles, will significantly reduce air defense costs as it will mean that Israel will become more dependent on the Iron Dome missile defense system. .

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett praised the “game-changing” system and said it would “bankrupt” Israel’s enemies.

“It has cost us dearly to intercept every missile so far. now they [the enemy] “He can invest tens of thousands of dollars in a missile, and we’re going to invest $2 in electricity to stop that missile,” Bennett said in a video released by his office.

“This is a game changer because not only do we attack the enemy militarily, but they are also financially bankrupt,” said Bennett.
