Nine people, including at least one child, were shot to death in Newark, New Jersey.

“The casualties have been transported to two nearby hospitals,” Newark City spokesman Raul Malaf said, noting that “they are all in stable condition and being treated for gunshot wounds.”

No details about the causes and motives of the accident have yet been reported.

On May 24, 21 people, including 19 children, were killed in a shooting at an elementary school in Yuvaldi, Texas. According to the non-profit research group Gun Violence Archive, more than 20,800 people died as a result of firearms in the United States in 2022, including homicides and suicides.
