Venezuela: Ambassador praises the role of the Portuguese in the construction of the country

The Portuguese ambassador praised the “remarkable and exemplary” role of the Portuguese in the construction of Venezuela and spoke about the future of the host country, emphasizing that after the storm comes calm.

“His role in the construction of Venezuela has been remarkable, he has been exemplary and he has also been decisive for the good name of Portugal in this land,” said João Pedro de Vasconcelos Fins do Lago.

The ambassador was speaking at the Centro Português Caracas, before several hundred Portuguese, on the occasion of the local celebrations of the Day of the Autonomous Region of Madeira (RAM), between Friday and Monday, in several Venezuelan states.

The diplomat also stressed that the importance of Portugal in Venezuela stems from the importance of the Portuguese community, highlighting the difficulties of recent years, from the economic crisis to the Covid-19 pandemic.

For his part, Wilder da Silva, representative of the Madeira Day Celebration Committee in Venezuela, highlighted “the great spirit of struggle, work, honesty and respect” of the Portuguese in Venezuela, with “the firm conviction of supporting” the local. developing. .
