A statement from the Turkish presidential communications department said that “Turkey and Malaysia have signed a memorandum of understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation between the two countries in the field of information and communications.”

This comes as part of the official visit of Malaysian Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yakub to Turkey at the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The memorandum was signed on behalf of the Turkish side by the head of the presidential communications department, Fakhruddin Altun, and on behalf of the Malaysian side, by Foreign Minister Dato Seri Saifuddin Abdullah.

The memorandum is aimed at strengthening and further developing friendly relations between the two countries, as well as relations in the field of mass media and communications. According to it, the two countries seek to promote, encourage and develop cooperation in the field of information, communications and broadcasting on the basis of reciprocity and mutual benefit, taking into account the provisions of the Memorandum and national laws, legislation and policies in both countries.

The Memorandum of Understanding will enter into force on Thursday and will be valid for 3 years.
