Governor of the Central Bank of Iran Ali Saleh Abadi said that “an agreement was reached with his Russian counterpart Alexander Novak on strengthening financial and banking cooperation between the two countries, as well as on studying ways to remove some of the obstacles hindering the development of joint investments between Tehran and Moscow, and in this good agreements have been reached, which will be seriously continued.

In turn, Novak emphasized the need to prioritize the strengthening of economic relations and investments between the two sides, expressing his country’s readiness to cooperate in this direction.

He pointed to “the many areas that Iran and Russia have to strengthen economic cooperation and attract capital, and considered that the mutual understanding of Iranian and Russian banks is of great importance in providing the necessary ground in this area.”

The Governor of the Central Bank of Iran met in Moscow with the Minister of Economic Development and his Russian counterpart, where the parties discussed issues related to joint investments, as well as ways to overcome obstacles to bilateral cooperation.
