The Moroccan Ministry of Justice said in a statement that “on the occasion of the Eid al-Adha holiday, King Mohammed VI of Morocco pardoned 979 accused, including detainees, including those at large.

She elaborated that the 834 prisoners under arrest received royal pardons as follows:

Pardon for the remainder of the term of imprisonment or imprisonment in favor of: 09 prisoners

Reduction of imprisonment or imprisonment in favor of: 818 prisoners

Converting a life sentence to a specified prison in favor of: 07 prisoners

There are 134 beneficiaries of a royal pardon at large, distributed as follows:

Pardons from imprisonment or what was left of it in favor: 21 people

– Release from punishment in the form of imprisonment with the preservation of the fine in favor of: 07 persons

– Forgiveness of the fine in favor of: 104 persons

– Amnesty from imprisonment and a fine in favor of: 02 two people

Grand total: 968″.

And she pointed out that “in this happy occasion, the King of Morocco refused to pardon a group of convicts of terrorism or extremism, after they officially declared their commitment to the constants and shrines of the nation and national institutions, and after reconsidering their positions and intellectual orientation, and as well as their rejection of extremism and terrorism, there were 11 of them.”
