Israeli Minister of Transport and Communications Merav Michaeli announced that “after the efforts made by Morocco, it has been decided to start preparations for the opening of the Allenby crossing around the clock, every day, as soon as all the necessary preparations are completed.”
“I would like to thank US President Joe Biden, King Mohammed VI and Morocco for their commitment to advancing the peace process and economic growth in the region,” she wrote in a social media statement.
And Jewish Channel 7 reported that Merav Michaeli was in contact with officials in Palestine, Morocco and the United States to continue to open the Allenby checkpoint with Jordan daily. She indicated that the move will be stepped up following Joe Biden’s visit to the region, and that this important step will be made once all the necessary preparations have been completed. The King Hussein Crossing, or the so-called Allenby Ferry, connects the West Bank and Jordan across the Jordan River.
