The fire that has raged since Friday morning in Spain on the border with Braganzafought to get 14 people out of the town of Petisqueira to a safe place, Fire Commander Carlos Martins told Lusa.
The Bragança corporation is part of the contingent that tries to prevent the flames pass to the portuguese side and, according to Commander Carlos Martins, the authorities decided to evict the 14 inhabitants of the Portuguese village “as a precaution“.
Some people were taken to another village, Deilão, and others who preferred to stay there are found”on the soccer field, in a safe area“, according to what the commander told Lusa.
The fire alert was given shortly after 7:00 am and operations continue on the ground with firefighting on both sides of the border.
On the Portuguese side, around 3:30 p.m., there was a device with 87 workers, 26 vehicles and an aerial vehicle.
