Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein indicated that his country’s role will be important at the Arab summit to be held in early November in Algiers.

At a press conference with his Algerian counterpart Ramtan Lamamra in Baghdad, he explained that the two sides had discussed materials from an Arab summit meeting in addition to yesterday’s Dohuk bombing in Iraqi Kurdistan. He noted: “We discussed with our Algerian counterpart the Turkish aggression in Dahuk and Iraq’s diplomatic steps in response to it.”

The Iraqi news agency quoted Hussein as saying that the discussion also touched on the Ukrainian crisis and its impact on global food security. The agency also quoted Lamamra as saying “the connection with Iraq is very important” and stressed that his country “supports strengthening the position of the Arabs in dealing with international events and challenges and effectively imposing this presence.”

He stressed that the Arab summit would take place on 1 and 2 November next year and added: “Now they are designed to deepen Iraqi-Algerian relations” and that it “carries a message of strength and solidarity from President Abdelmajid Tebbun.” with Iraq.”
