Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan indicated that “his country expects from all sides to comply with the agreement on the transportation of grain from Ukrainian ports and act in accordance with its obligations.”

In an interview with the Turkish Broadcasting Corporation (TRT), Erdogan referred to the “initiative document for the safe shipment of grain and food from Ukrainian ports,” which was signed on July 22 in Istanbul between Turkey, Russia and Ukraine. And the UN, explaining that “the successful implementation of the plan will begin to mitigate the effects of the global food crisis.”

He believed that “our contribution to this historic success has once again proved the important role that Turkey can play in global issues” and stated that “the operational measurement of the plan will be carried out from Istanbul by officials from Turkey, Russia, Ukraine and the United Nations .”

The President of Turkey touched upon the severity of the ongoing negotiation process and the attack on the port of Odessa last Saturday. He expressed Turkey’s “desire to avoid behavior that violates the letter and spirit of the agreement”, stressing that “failure in this regard will affect everyone.”

He emphasized that “his country is determined to implement all the provisions of the above-mentioned agreement and will continue to work in this direction”, noting that “his country’s priority since the beginning of the war has been to establish a just and lasting peace after securing a ceasefire”, expressing the hope that this will be achieved .

On the other hand, Erdogan stressed that the inclusion of the PKK, BYD, YPG and Gülen in the records of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) “is the most successful aspect of the latest NATO summit in Madrid.”

Speaking about the accession of Sweden and Finland to NATO, he indicated that “during the meetings of the joint mechanism that will be held with the two countries, all measures that have been taken or not taken to stop supporting terrorism will be disclosed,” and continued: “No one is waiting concessions from Turkey on this issue.” In other words, Sweden seems to be very far from taking concrete steps at the moment.” He stressed that “Sweden and Finland should not expect a positive approach from Turkey in weapons of the PKK against his country.”
