The UK Ministry of Defense indicated that “the current counter-attack by Ukrainian forces on the eastern city of Kherson, which is controlled by Russian forces, is gaining momentum.”

In a daily military intelligence report, the ministry said “Ukrainian forces have succeeded in building a bridge south of the Ingolets River, which forms the city’s northern border,” noting that “these forces have succeeded in deploying their long-range artillery.” destroy at least three bridges across the Dnieper River, namely: Bridges on which Russian troops rely to supply their forces in areas they control.”

She stated that “Russian army units stationed on the western bank of the river have become more vulnerable to attacks by Ukrainian forces,” stressing that “the city of Kherson is currently isolated from the rest of Russian-controlled territories in the east.” Ukraine, and that if the forces control it, it will undermine Russia’s attempts to declare its military operation in Ukraine a success.”

It is worth noting that Russia now controls about 20 percent of Ukraine’s territory, including large parts of the east and south of the country, more than five months after the start of its military operation in Ukraine.
