A survey conducted this week found that more than seven in 10 people in France favor a “significant” reduction in the number of immigrants entering the country.
A survey conducted by the CSA Institute for French broadcaster CNEWS found that 71% of the population believe immigration levels should be “significantly” lowered, compared to 28% who oppose it.
Not surprisingly, there was a political split in the responses: many on the left said there should be no cuts, only fair ones, and only 53 percent said the movement should be sustained. It rose slightly for adults who supported the Green Party: 57 percent supported the current level.
However, Centrists are firmly in favor of reducing immigration: 67 percent are in favor of reducing this number.
The most categorical view is expressed by adult rights, of which 94% want to reduce immigration. Even if we exclude the so-called “far right”, the percentage still remains at the level of 90 percent.
Overall, the survey found that 71 percent of all groups support basic immigration controls, a broad, narrow majority that politicians say is a controversial issue.
Interestingly, age was not a determining factor in the results, according to the survey: 70% of those under 35 asked for a discount, compared to 74% of those over 65.
The growing anti-immigrant sentiment among youth was reflected in the presidential election in April, when National Rally (RN) Marine Le Pen made significant gains among millennial voters against globalist incumbent Emmanuel Macron. Although Le Pen failed to oust the former banker, his party took a surprise result in June’s National Assembly election with 89 seats, compared to RN’s 8.
The unexpected result of the populist right party combined with strong performances from the far left, President Macron lost his commanding majority in the French parliament.

Concerns about immigration were at the center of Le Pen-led campaigns, which promised a previously promised referendum on immigration and argued that successive French governments ignored the will of the people and forced mass immigration into the country without their consent.
In fact, President Macron presided over the highest level of immigration in French history despite the coronavirus crisis in China, according to the findings of the Observatory of Immigration and Demography.
Emphasizing the role of immigration in the victory after the National Assembly elections, Le Pen said, “It is true that we are surprised by the mobilization of our citizens and the desire that immigration, insecurity and the struggle against Islamism will not disappear.
Radical Islam is a growing issue in France, which has faced a number of high-profile jihadist attacks in recent years. prophet during free speech lesson.
Problems with mass immigration, including crime and terrorism, prompted a group of retired generals last year to warn that the country could plunge into civil war if the government fails to maintain patriotism and reject the Islamization of the country.
