The information was provided by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS). The head of the Special Crimes and Counterterrorism Unit, Nick Price, confirmed, quoted by the British newspaper, that “the CPS authorized the Metropolitan Police to charge Jaswat Singh Chail with crimes after he was arrested on the grounds of the Castle of Windsor on December 25, 2021 with a crossbow. He ”he added that the accusation follows“ an investigation carried out by the Metropolitan Police.

Jaswant Singh Chail, 20, is in custody and will appear in court on 17 August. The young man, then 19, was arrested at 8:30am local time on December 25 at the Windsor Castle estate where the Queen was spending Christmas. The intruder did not enter any buildings and an investigation was soon opened. The next day, British police reported that he was being held under the Mental Health Act.

According to the Telegraph, it takes more than 40 years to find the last person convicted under this law. In 1981 Marcus Sarjaent was sentenced to five years in prison for attempting to attack the Queen during the Trooping the Color parade.
