The Jordanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has condemned Israel’s continued violations of the Al-Aqsa Mosque and allowing extremists to storm it and violate its integrity.

The spokesman for the ministry, Ambassador Haytham Abu Al-Ful, stressed that “the assault on the holy Al-Aqsa Mosque and provocative actions against it are a condemned and unacceptable aggression, a flagrant violation of international law and the historical and legal situation in Jerusalem and its holy sites, and represents a dangerous trend and absurd and irresponsible behavior that exacerbates tensions.” Al-Aqsa Mosque, Al-Haram al-Sharif, with an area of ​​144 dunums, is a place of worship exclusively for Muslims, and that the Department of Endowments of Jerusalem and the Affairs of the Blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jordan is a legal body with exclusive jurisdiction to administer campus affairs and arrange entry into it.

He held the Israeli authorities responsible for the current escalation, calling on Israel as the occupying power to “immediately stop all attacks and violations against the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and respect its integrity”, stressing the need to “cease all measures aimed at changing the historical and legal status of -quo and respect for the authority of the Department of Endowments of Jerusalem and the affairs of the Al-Aqsa Blessed Mosque in Jordan.

And the Palestinian News and Information Agency – Wafa reported that “groups of settlers launched an assault on the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque from the Mughrabi Gate under the protection of the Israeli occupation police.”

She explained that “the incursions began with a group of 50 settlers who performed Talmudic rituals and provocative tours in the courtyards of the mosque,” noting that “Israeli police blocked the main roads leading to the Old City of occupied Jerusalem and prevented young people from entering the mosque.” Al-Aqsa.
