Former US President Donald Trump has given the strongest indication of his intention to run for the next presidential election in 2024.
Trump told his fellow Republicans that the time to announce a re-election bid for the White House is near.
He added that he believes that “people will be very happy with his decision to run again.”
Trump did not forget to point the arrows of criticism at his opponent, Joe Biden, the current US president, saying that “America lost everything under his leadership”.
The former president is the “most likely candidate” for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination, a new poll has found.
The former president’s words come as a donor to Trump’s 2020 and 2016 campaigns said he did not believe the former president would run again.
Speaking at the annual conservative conference in Dallas, Trump said he has plans to run for office in the United States in the near future.
Asked when that would be, Trump said, “It’s certainly not far, it’s close.”
And he continued: “I think people will be very happy, our country was not in this situation, we lost everything (during Biden’s leadership).
He stated that the US is facing internal and external crises and emphasized that after the withdrawal of the US from Afghanistan, it has lost its “dignity”.
