The unemployment rate in France increased one tenth in the second quarter of this year to 7.4%, 29,000 more unemployed, which adds up to 2.3 million, the French National Statistics Institute (INSE) announced on Friday.
In a statement, INSE also mentioned that with these numbers the Unemployment rate “is at the same level” as in the fourth quarter of 2021 and 0.8 points below that registered at the end of 2019, before the Covid-19 pandemic crisis.
In addition, it highlights that the Unemployment increased most significantly among young peoplewith a growth of 1.3 percentage points, up to 17.8%, although it remains 3.7 points below the rate registered before the pandemic.
In the case of the population aged 25 to 49, unemployment increased one tenth, to 6.7%, while among those over 50, it fell three tenths, to 5.2%.
