A video of the wife of Dmitry Peskov, Vladimir Putin’s spokesman, dancing and breaking plates, a Greek ritual, began to circulate on social networks and caused controversy, raising the question of whether he was in Greece. This is because Tatyana Aleksandrovna Navka is a Russian national and has been one of the people on the US sanctions list since March and the European Union since June.
The video was posted by Tatyana Navka herself on her Instagram account, but in the meantime it is no longer available. She was accompanied by the caption: “Cutting plates is part of the hustle and bustle of nightlife in Greece. For me it is like an attraction. What do you think?” In the video, the former skater can be seen dancing into the night, in what appears to be an outdoor space with tables and a party atmosphere. In Greece, the tradition of breaking plates takes place in the context of the celebration, but also in Orthodox funerals and can be considered a sign of mourning.
Although the video was published this Saturday, there was no certainty as to when it would have been filmed, so doubts arose on social networks as to whether Tatiana was actually in Greece in breach of the applied sanctions. But, after all, the video was shot in Turkey.
The Greek Ministry of Civil Protection issued a statement on Sunday stating that Tatiana Navka did not enter Greece, within the framework of the sanctions imposed by the European Union.

The video of Peskov’s wife is said to have been shot in the Turkish city of Marmaris and in a restaurant owned by a Greek. Manos Maggos confirmed to the Greek news site Protothema.gr that Tatiana Navka was in her restaurant at the table of a wealthy Russian businessman, whose ship sails between the Turkish coast and the Greek islands. On the website you can read that the former skater was “enchanted by the flavors of the famous restaurant, tasting Greek wine accompanied by good fish dishes.” During the visit to the restaurant there was a fun moment and it was the moment when she broke the dishes, danced and made the video.

The former Russian Olympic figure skating champion is 47 years old and was born in Soviet Ukraine. She has been married to Peskov since 2015 and they had a daughter in 2014.
