Khalid al-Zaidi, the lawyer of Saif al-Islam Gaddafi, the son of Muammar Gaddafi, the late leader of Libya, confirmed what was published by the French magazine “John Africa” about the existence of secret negotiations for the release of Hannibal Gaddafi. He has been detained in Lebanon for years, “totally false.”
And “Jan Afriq” magazine recently quoted an Iraqi woman named Saha al-Badri, who described her as Saif al-Islam Gaddafi’s advisor, saying that “the freedom of Hannibal, who is imprisoned in Lebanon, is near. Posting $150,000 bail to Lebanese authorities on the condition that he remain there pending trial.
In a statement to Sputnik, al-Zaidi said: What the French newspaper John Afrique published is false, because the Iraqi woman Saha al-Badri is not a member of Saif al-Islam’s work team, and that is the reason. As the newspaper mentioned, he does not have the status of a consultant or other person.
He added: There is also no understanding or agreement for the release of the kidnapped Libyan citizen, Hannibal al-Gaddafi.
He emphasized that Hannibal is still in deadly arbitrary detention and there is no indication that he will be released or brought before the judiciary.
It is worth mentioning that Hannibal, the son of the late Libyan president Muammar Gaddafi, has been arrested in Lebanon for the past 6 years, accused of concealing information related to the disappearance of the founder of the Supreme Islamic Shiite Assembly, Imam Musa Sadr. Trip to Libya in August 1978 after the invitation of Gaddafi’s father.
Hannibal Gaddafi entered Lebanon through Syria and took refuge there after the departure of his father, while according to Hannibal Gaddafi, he was kidnapped by an armed group and forced to cross the Syrian-Lebanon border illegally.
