The International Committee of the Red Cross has indicated that the number of missing minors in Africa is over 25,000, representing 40% of the 64,000 missing persons. This is stated in the statement of the committee on the occasion of the International Day of the Missing, which falls on August 30 of each year.

She pointed out that “the African continent is currently the scene of more than 35 active armed conflicts.”

The committee stated: “The number of documented cases of missing persons is increasing, although in fact there are many more.”

According to the statement, children face many dangers during displacement, such as exploitation, abuse, disappearance and separation from their families.

And in 2021, the committee indicated that “in collaboration with the Red Crescent, it helped determine the fate and whereabouts of 4,200 people” and was able to “reunite 1,200 families in Africa.”
