Russia’s Sputnik news agency reported that “NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg is meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken at the alliance’s headquarters in Brussels.”
Stoltenberg and Blinken are expected to hold a joint press conference after the meeting. Although the NATO press service was not informed of the agenda of the meeting, the media spread that “the purpose of Blinken’s trip to Brussels may be his desire to enlist the support of NATO allies regarding the continuation of military and financial support for Ukraine in the face of the approaching winter and rising energy prices.
Ukraine has received billions in financial and military aid from Western countries, led by the US and the UK, since the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine on February 24. According to the US State Department, the cost of US military assistance to Ukraine alone since the administration of US President Joe Biden came to power has so far reached about $15.2 billion.
Western countries, through the material, military and political support they provide to Kyiv, seek to interfere with the goals of the Russian special military operation in Ukraine, but Moscow has repeatedly confirmed that hostilities in the Donbas will not stop until all the tasks assigned to it are completed.
