Argentine President Alberto Fernandez said: “There are known conversations between the accused. They talk about the failed assassination attempt on Vice President Christina Kirchner and say I’ll be next.”

In an interview with the Telesinko TV channel, he denied, in response to a journalist’s question, whether he was afraid of an assassination attempt, emphasizing that “restraint must be exercised. I don’t want to be separated from people.” He also expressed confidence that the assassination attempt on the vice president is not a reflection of the mood that permeates the entire Argentine society. “This is a gang of villains capable of such atrocities,” he pointed out.

The assassination attempt on Argentine Vice President Cristina Kirchner took place on September 1 near her home in Buenos Aires. A man standing in a crowd of Kirchner supporters managed to approach her and point a gun at her. But the gun did not work, and Kirchner, who led the country from 2007 to 2015, remained unscathed. Police later arrested the assailant and his fiancée. They are accused of attempted murder, which was planned in advance.
