A new strain of the coronavirus has sparked fears around the world after spreading so quickly, particularly in the United States and Britain, that it now accounts for about 9 percent of cases.
And the Science Alert website reported that BA.4.6, a subspecies of the Covid-19 virus, has gained momentum in the US and is spreading in the UK.
The latest document on coronavirus variants from the UK Health Safety Agency showed that this week, BA.4.6 accounted for around 3.3% of samples in the UK. Since then, it has grown to around 9%.
According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, BA.4.6 now accounts for more than 9% of recent cases across the US, and its variant has been monitored in many other countries around the world.
“The new strain does not appear to cause severe disease symptoms, although it may be more evasive than previous strains,” the site says.
And the University of Oxford reported that people who received three doses of Pfizer’s original coronavirus vaccine produced fewer antibodies in response to BA.4.6 compared to BA.4 or BA.5. This has caused scientists to worry.
The report concludes that this is a solution to deal with the corona, which seems to continue to spread through the new mutation until now.
This coincides with remarks by Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization, that the world is closer than ever to eliminating the corona epidemic, which has killed millions since the end of 2019.
According to the latest epidemiological report published by the World Health Organization and dedicated to the Corona epidemic, the number of infected during the week from August 29 to September 13 decreased by 12% compared to the previous week and reached about 4.2 million new cases.
