Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi said that his participation in the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly is an opportunity to clarify the vision and positions of the Islamic Republic of Iran, stressing that there will be no meetings with US officials during this five-day visit. .

Raisi told reporters at Mehrabad International Airport before flying from Tehran to New York that the visit was part of an invitation by UN Secretary-General António Guterres to attend the 77th session of the UN General Assembly.

He added: “Our views and the views of the region can be explained, and this opportunity should be used to clarify the positions of the country.”

He explained that the visit is an opportunity to announce actions and procedures that are sometimes not heard because the great powers dominate the media space in the world.

Raisi indicated that he would meet some of the world’s heads of state on the sidelines, stressing that there would be no meetings with US officials during the five-day visit.

He referred to his forthcoming meeting with a group of Iranians living in the United States and some individuals who requested to meet during this visit.
