The head of the Yemeni Presidential Leadership Council, Rashad al-Alimi, confirmed the approval of the extension of the current United Nations truce in Yemen, which is expiring in a few days, subject to “the reopening of roads closed by the Ansar Allah group.” in the province of Taiz, southwest of Yemen, describing: “The temporary ceasefire provides a historic opportunity for peace in an Arab country torn by conflict for eight years.”

Speaking to the Middle East Institute, which he hosted on social media, Al-Alimi noted that “the truce is a historic opportunity to move to the stage of a comprehensive ceasefire in Yemen and move to the stage of political consultations that will lead to a comprehensive and just solution that will return the Yemenis to their state and revive their hope for a better future.”

In this context, he pointed out that “the truce is under threat today, and you know that it was based on three main elements, the first of which is the opening of the Sanaa airport, the importation of oil products to the port of Hodeidah and the opening of roads in Taiz. It was believed that “the legitimate government complied with and adhered to it, and today we have more than 21 thousand people left Sana’a airport, despite the fact that the Ansar Allah group prevents those who are not loyal to them from Sana’a airport, and more than 50 ships with oil products entered Hodeidah.
