The body of American mountaineer Hillary Nelson has been found in the Himalayas two days after she disappeared on the slopes of Mount Manaslu in Nepal, a trip organizer said.

Hillary Nelson slipped while skiing the world’s eighth-highest mountain after climbing to the summit with partner Jim Morrison on Monday.

Nelson, 49, has been mountain climbing for two decades.

In 2012, she became the first woman to reach Everest, the highest mountain in the world, and nearby Mount Lotse in 24 hours.

Nelson was the second confirmed casualty of the fall climbing season in Nepal.

On the same day he disappeared, an avalanche struck between Camps 3 and 4 in Manaslu, killing a Nepalese climber and injuring dozens, according to the state tourism department.

Nepal is home to eight of the 14 highest peaks in the world, and foreign climbers who come here for their hobby are the main source of income.
