It wasn’t easy to have group conversations through digital messaging apps until video conferencing app Zoom introduced the ability to share links to facilitate group conversations on the way to a conference.
And now the social network application “WhatsApp” wants to facilitate group conversations for its users without the need to collect a large number of phone numbers or create a group chat room in the application.
Mark Zuckerberg, president of the Meta Platforms Group, which owns WhatsApp, said: “Starting this week, we launched chat links on WhatsApp, so you can sign up for a link to start a group chat in one step.
“The new feature will be available for voice and video chats this week,” said Will Cathcart, head of WhatsApp.
And unlike Zoom and Google Hangouts, any WhatsApp link for a group chat needs to be installed on the devices of all participants in the conversation.
Anyone who wants to start an audio or video group chat on WhatsApp in the future will find the “Create Call Link” option at the top of the Coles menu options.
Zuckerberg said that the developers are currently testing the ability to enable group video chat with the participation of up to 32 users, while ensuring complete privacy and security.
