This Monday, the PS welcomed the victory of former president Lula da Silva in the first round of the Brazilian presidential elections, considering that his victory will represent the victory of progressive and democratic values in the second round against authoritarian drifts.
In the first round of Brazil’s presidential elections on Sunday, former president Lula da Silva won with 48% of votes, while the current head of state, Jair Bolsonaro, obtained 43.2%.
Brazilians in Portugal give victory to Lula da Silva
In a note sent to the Lusa agency, the PS maintains that, on Sunday, “Brazilians gave an expressive and important signal for their future”.
The PS greets Lula da Silva, the candidate with the most votes in the first round of the presidential elections, and formulates votes for Brazil to reject authoritarian and anti-democratic drifts. Lula’s victory will be the victory of progressive and democratic values”, underlines the same note.
The second round of the Brazilian presidential elections is scheduled for 30th of October.
