Danish Prime Minister, Social Democrat Mette Frederiksen, called an early general election for November 1, seven months ahead of schedule, to try to get a parliamentary majority.
The Social Liberal Party, one of the formations that gives a majority to the Social Democratic Government, had threatened Frederiksen with a motion of censure if he did not call elections, after presenting in June a critical report on the management carried out by the Executive in relation to the slaughter of millions of minks, due to a mutation of the coronavirus.
Frederiksen described as “strange” to advance the elections in the midst of an international “energy, economic and security” crisis and guaranteed that his party, if he wins, will bet on the formation of a broad government.
